There are two main reasons that drives us to turn on our electronic device and look through our social media.
Emotional: people want to socially connect with friends or strangers and to express your mood, your thoughts.
Rational: To find entertainment and entertain yourself, to intake knowledge from others or shring knowledge to the others
The power of consumer behavior for online business
Understanding the consumer behavior is the greatest fortune for enterprises, they analysis the data that the users provide to enhance their functionality and usability. one example is Facebook. According to statistic, untill 2019, facebook has 2.38 billions of active users and these are basicically their ‘consumers’, their consumers provide a huge amount of data to facebook and allow it to identify differnt individuals. For instance, online shopping had becoming more and more popular since 1995 when ebay is established. Internet users tend to shop online because it is convenient and efficient. Now among the 2.38 billions users of facebook, there are definitely lots of online buyers, if there are buyers then there will be online sellers, which is called as the E-commerce industry. By analysing these user behaviors, facebook allows those users to do trading online, when we are launching facebook ads, we can see that in the ads manager we are able to choose different campaign objectives

each campaigns is corresponded to different type of audiences, such as shoppers, sellers and etc. These are the ‘products’ from facebook’s powerful consumer analysis system. Another example is youtube, where people can watch videos from. Many people become full time youtuber nowadays to entertain people because they realise that people either want to find themselves entertainment or to seek for knowledge on this platform. this is how these people start their youtube business. however, there is slightly adoption in this business model, for instance Kylie Kardashian , an actor and a beauty youtuber who has 5 millions plus subscribers, she sell her own cosmetic products in her own channel and that makes her become one of the youngest billionare. As she is coaching people how to do make up, the viewers will be thinking “Can i have one of her make up kit?” these subscribers have a high potential to be a shopper!

- Device shift: according to research the usgae of mobile and tablet has taken up 44 % of personal time from 2008-2013, from July 2019 on, the usage of mobile and tablet has increased up to 54.91 % globally.

- Communication shift: social network has doubled and become 1/4 of all our communication nowadays, instead of just doing the traditional phone call, many users shows their favor to data and video content.
- Retail shift : The adoption of retail shop, such as amazon, which is considered as one of the biggest retail company online. as the consumers are spending more time on their devices, they are most likely to shop online as well and that is also why that many of the big companies like amazon, ebay and target are compete for the top google search position.
